TO GET THE RUNAROUND

This is a funny one.

To get the runaround - to get evasive excuses, delays.

e.g.

When I asked the senator why he voted for tax cuts for cigarette companies, I got the runaround.

OR

Am I getting the runaround for a job?

Last Thursday I came in for orientations took my drug test and my criminal background check all of it was good news I called yesterday when I was told they put me down on the availability list asked me my name number what shift I would like to work and then I was told they will call me for any openings i wanna know am I getting blown off...SN:This is from a temp service if it matters at all.
